Wistron has announced its third-quarter financial results, reporting a drop in net profit by 54.7% on year to reach only NT$657 million (US$20.26 million) due to exchange losses from selling its service center in the Netherlands. Compared to the second quarter, the company's net profits still saw growth, while EPS was NT$0.27 in the quarter.
Wistron noted that euro's devaluation has caused the company to suffer a NT$380 million in exchange losses after selling the service center.
Wistron may also need to pay an overdue tax to the Taiwan government and therefore has already listed the related expenses into the third-quarter financial report, making its tax rate to rise to 49.55%.
The company said selling the service center and and the exchange losses were both one-off incidents.
Wistron expects its fourth-quarter notebook shipments to decline from the previous quarter due to seasonality, while its server and LCD module (LCM) shipments will both enjoy growth. As for its smart handheld device shipments, the company expects the volume to stay flat on quarter.
