DELL Has Completed Its Acquisition of Management Software Vendor Quest Software

Dell has completed its acquisition of management software vendor Quest Software, the firm has announced.

The final stage of the move comes almost three months after it was first revealed that Dell planned to acquire Quest for $2.4bn (£1.5bn). Founded in 1987, Quest provides software solutions including databases and cloud storage, which Dell believes can help it to improve its services.

"We are addressing key needs for our customers, helping them leverage the cloud, support 'bring-your-own-device' in their enterprise, and deploy mobile applications and virtualization to drive improved business results.," said Dell president John Swainson.

"The addition of Quest Software into Dell's software portfolio will extend our industry-leading suite of solutions to a broader range of customers and partners, while simplifying operations, maximizing workforce productivity and delivering faster results," he added.

Quest brings 100,000 customers, 5,000 channel partners, 1,500 sales and marketing experts, and 1,300 software developers to the Dell Software Group. Dell said the deal will form the the foundation of a $1bn-plus annual revenue software business. Quest's technology covers systems management, security and business intelligence.

August saw Dell hire former HP executive Marius Haas after the firm posted disappointing Q2 results following a slump in PC sales. Haas is responsible for worldwide engineering, design, development and marketing of Dell enterprise products, including servers, networking and storage systems.
