The Bottles Are of a Similar Weight to The Existing Ones

New Zealand dairy co-operative Fonterra has announced the launch of its new plastic bottle across its entire Anchor-branded range of milk and cream.

The new Anchor triple layer bottle, which is claimed to be 100% light proof, is made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and its cap is also easily recyclable.

Fonterra has added two more layers to the existing single layer bottle, while ensuring the bottle is still light weight and easily recyclable. The bottles are of a similar weight to the existing ones and their lightness in the three layer format makes it look new.

According to the company, the inside and outside layers of the new bottle are opaque white making the milk recognizable on shelf.

The middle layer, which is colored black, blocks out 100% of light, while titanium dioxide (TIO2) is used to color the internal and external layer.

The bottle can be reused within New Zealand to create recycling bins, which are made from 60% recycled milk bottle content, the company said.
