US based auto-parts manufacturer BorgWarner will supply its latest turbocharging technology for medium-duty engines from Mercedes-Benz.
The new technology is equipped with the B-series turbocharging and regulated two-stage R2S turbocharger technology to obtain increased outputs with reduced emissions, while enhancing performance and fuel economy.
BorgWarner Turbo Systems Commercial Diesel Products president and general manager Pete Kohler said that the company's turbocharging technologies help satisfy the Euro VI emissions standards with improving fuel economy and engine performance.
"Our highly-efficient turbocharging technologies provide OEMs with state-of-the-art powertrain solutions for on-and off-highway applications," Kohler said.
The Mercedes-Benz medium-duty engines equipped with the chargers include the 5.1L four-cylinder OM 934 engine and the 7.7L six-cylinder OM 936 engine that generate output between 115kW (156HP) and 260kW (354HP).
Advancements in the B-series turbocharging include titanium compressor wheels, electric actuators for the wastegate and turbine bypass control, while the manufacturer has also combined parts of the exhaust into the turbine housing of the application.
