LED lighting standards were one of the focuses at the 2013 Taiwan International Lighting Show as many firms introduced LED light bulbs meeting the requirements of Energy Star in hope to enter the international market. In addition, Taiwan-based LED optical lens maker Ledlink developed lamp shells to help firms to manufacture products with omni-directional beam angle.
Digitimes Research observed that some firms have adopted Zhaga, the standardization of LED engines, to develop products. By adopting the Zhaga standard, the firms can simplify the complexity of producing and packaging LED lighting fixtures.
Firms in the exhibition also showed the latest technologies. Taiwan-based Delta Electronics showcased LED light bulbs with 130lm/W brightness efficiency, the highest in the show. In addition, the firm developed driver ICs to replace the traditional electrolytic capacitors and transformers. The driver IC has a lifespan of 30,000-40,000 hours.
Many firms showcased different applications of LED lighting such as tube and street lamps. Furthermore, Philips combined smart lighting with ZigBee Light Link systems and the product can be purchased from Apple Store.
