In 2010 the design studio WHITEvoid created Border of Lights, a 26 mile 28 minute monument consisting of 43,100 balloons filled with LED light. This long line of glowing balloons lined the border of the old route of the Berlin Wall and commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall.

The Border of Lights lasted only 28 minutes and matched just a fragment of the 28 years that the Berlin Wall stood. Yet this light installation not only celebrated the end of the Berlin Wall, but a celebration of the beginning of something new. A celebration with light and balloons to mark the importance of overcoming such an obstacle.
