According to data released by the Turkish Steel Exporters’ Union (CIB), Turkey’s steel exports totaled 10 million tons in the first half of this year, down by 0.5% year on year, caused by slowdown in global economic growth and sluggish demand in export markets.
In the first half of this year, Turkey’s steel export revenues amounted to US$7.5 billion, decreasing by 7% year on year.
In the given period of time, the Middle East was the largest importer of the Turkish steel with 4.9 million tons; the EU was the second largest one with 1.57 million tons and North Africa was the third largest one with 1.05 million tons.
