German Sawmills and Industrial-Scale Planing Mills Have Reduced Their Output in Q1 of 2012

German sawmills and industrial-scale planing mills have reduced their output sometimes significantly in the first quarter of 2012 against the background of excessive supply and insufficient demand on the domestic and most foreign sales markets. Moreover, lumber cutting in February had in some places been affected by the extremely cold weather at that time. As a result, the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden reports a preliminary reduction of 5.9% to 4.718 million m³ in softwood lumber production in the first three months of this year.
