Hyundai’s efforts to dominate SEMA show no sign of waning following the release of a teaser image of the JP Edition Genesis coupe.
The Hyundai JP Edition Genesis coupe is the result of a collaboration between Hyundai and auto-tuner John Pangilinan. The car’s mechanicals have been lightly worked over (unlike one of Hyundai’s other SEMA show cars with 746kW), with a unique cold-air intake system, tuned exhaust, turbo downpipe, and the ability to run on low-friction oil.
The car rides on 19-inch gloss black wheels, and is brought to a stop by oversized 15-inch brakes.
Pangilinan is well known in the tuning community for coating his cars in lurid colours, and the JP Edition Genesis coupe’s bright blue paintwork certainly continues this theme. The car’s exterior also sports a wide-body kit, carbonfibre front splitter and unique front fascia.
Inside, the JP Edition Genesis coupe has ditched the standard car’s seats for leather and suede Recaro pews, and also features a racing harness and in-car GoPro video camera.
This is not the first time Hyundai and Pangilinan have collaborated on a SEMA show car; last year the pair showed a ‘JP Edition’ of the Veloster hatch, which Hyundai awarded its own ‘President’s Choice’ award for best show car.
The JP Edition Genesis coupe is the third Genesis coupe to be tuned for this year’s SEMA show, in a line-up which also includes a tuned Veloster hatchback.
