Rexam Announces That Its Beverage Can Plant in Brazil Commences Production

Global consumer packaging company Rexam has announced that its beverage can plant in Benevides, Greater Belém in the Brazilian state of Pará has commenced production.

The plant is set to bring Rexam's beverage can capacity in South America to more than 14bn cans per year.

According to Rexam, the plant primarily serves the requirements of north and north east regions of Brazil, which are said to be the fastest growing regions in the country.

With an installed capacity of 0.8bn cans annually, the plant will enable the company to capture growth in standard cans and will also free up capacity to meet demand for cans.

Rexam said, the company, which is preparing for the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2013, the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the summer Olympics in 2016, is well placed to capture further growth in the country.
