Amerplast has launched new AmerGreen brand, as part of its effort to provide better services for the flexible packaging industry.
AmerGreen features three components, including an advanced flexible packaging system that expands the shelf life of food products in a natural way.
It helps to convert Amerplast’s Polyethylene (PE) materials to PE from renewable biomass resources, such as sugar cane.
In addition, the brand partners with local governments, city councils and retailers to design flexible packaging solutions, which are reusable and completely integrated in a circular economy.
Amerplas has developed a range of bags made of recycled plastics, as well as carrier bags that include around 95% of recycled material.
Recently, the firm signed a cooperation agreement with Ekokem to manufacture plastic bags and flexible packaging material from recycled plastic granules.
These granules are generated from the consumer waste of Ekokem plastic refinery.
Developed in collaboration with PerfoTec, Amerplast launched AmerFresh packaging system for the European fresh produce industry.
AmerFresh packaging system enables optimal respiration of the produce for a longer life cycle once it is packaged, helping to increase sales and reduce costs.
Amerplast COO Reima Kerttula said: “There is no reason to delay the transformation of the flexible packaging industry into an environmentally sound business. With AmerGreen we are ready to take a leading position in this transformation process.
“Today’s consumers value sustainable packaging and we do not buy the notion that our customers would have to choose between green packaging and profits.”
