Long Beach Memorial Chooses Toshiba's Aquilion One Dynamic Volume CT System

Long Beach Memorial has chosen Toshiba's Aquilion ONE dynamic volume CT system for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning for acute stroke patients.

Aquilion ONE CT system features Target CTA, SUREExposure 3D, SUREExposure Pediatric, QDS and Boost3D dose reduction technologies.

The company said the new system uses 320 ultra-high-resolution, 0.5 mm detector elements (640 unique slices) to cover up to 16 cm of anatomy and to image the entire brain in a single rotation.

Long Beach Memorial MemorialCare Neuroscience Institute spokesperson Nima Ramezan said the Aquilion ONE's whole brain perfusion images and ability to show real-time brain function with greater detail are instrumental in improving stroke diagnoses and planning.

"The Aquilion ONE's whole brain perfusion images enable us to identify viable brain tissue and determine the optimal treatment pathway," Ramezan added.

"We also use the system to assess therapy effectiveness to further guide our decision making for improved patient outcome and the patient's recovery process."

Long Beach Memorial said it will soon upgrade the Aquilion ONE system with Toshiba's new dose reduction technology, Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction 3D (AIDR 3D), which will allow the facility to acquire CT data sets using less radiation, helping to improve patient safety.
