Tetra Pak has launched the Tetra Brik Aseptic 500 Edge which has been designed according to the needs of smaller households.
Tetra Pak says that its Brik Aseptic range is the world's best-selling carton package range for beverages owing to its cost efficiency and value for customers.
Austria-based dairy company Berglandmilch has become the first company to use the Tetra Brik Aspetic range for its premium milk brand, Formil.
Tetra Pak said in a statement: "By 2020, the average number of children globally per household is forecast to be 1.0, down from 1.9 in 1980. Single person households and couples without children are forecast to experience the highest rate of growth, almost doubling to top 330 million during the same period, the result of changing lifestyles, reduced fertility rates and the climbing cost of raising children."
Berglandmilch managing director Josef Braunshofer said: "In the recent years we have witnessed a significant shift in the way consumers buy their milk -many more are looking for smaller pack sizes due to the decreasing size of households.
"The new Tetra Brik Aseptic 500 Edge is exactly what we have been looking for. We were delighted to see the success of the product during its pilot launch, and hear directly from consumers that they not only love the milk but also liked the overall look and feel, the ease of use and the way the product fits with their lifestyle."
Berglandmilch will be packing Formil using Tetra Pak's filling machine A3/Flex DIMC with QuickChange which will enable the company to switch between 1000ml and 500ml packages in just 15 minutes.
