UPM Raflatac has provided its new Raflex MDO film labels to the Clemson University in South Carolina, US.
The university has used new Raflex MDO film labels in its Phoenix Challenge Foundation competition, which promotes the flexographic printing industry.
Every year, participating teams will have to work with a client or partner to accommodate into their packaging and promotional needs using flexography.
In this year's challenge, Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) is the Clemson's client or partner.
Raflex MDO films are said to include best performance properties of PP and PE for maximum functionality and shelf appeal.
Clemson team produced a multi-piece and mid-century modern recruiting kit featuring fictional character Capability Brown, for their final submission.
All of the elements within the kit are items, comprising of a shampoo bottle with a retro-looking, double-sided label printed on Raflex MDO conformable film label material.
Raflex MDO films are suitable to produce thicker-width bottles, including bottles that require a full squeeze at the bottom.
The films, which are available in both clear and white with RP74 adhesive forms, can be used for a variety of end-uses such as food, beverage and personal care.
Clemson University graphic communications graduate student 2017 Phoenix Challenge participant Becky Bunch said: "UPM Raflatac's Raflex MDO film materials were a really nice addition to our Capability Brown recruiting kit.”
