GE Healthcare, the healthcare division of General Electric, has acquired Unisyn Medical Technologies' Transactional Business, a leading provider of ultrasound probe repair solutions, for undisclosed amount.
The products and services from Unisyn will be merged into GE Healthcare's Global Services organization and will be offered initially in the US and Canadian markets. Global expansion will commence only by the end of the year.
Unisyn's Diagnostic Imaging Field Services business will operate independently under a new name.
GE Healthcare Global Services president and CEO Mike Swinford said that the combination of Unisyn's repair expertise and GE's scale will provide value by meeting customers' needs with a fast, cost effective and reliable probe repair solution.
"We see this as a tremendous opportunity to further grow our Ultrasound and Services footprint globally and look forward to providing our customers a cost effective solution at every step of the Ultrasound product lifecycle," Swinford added.
Ultrasound customers seek low cost, high quality solutions that can increase their uptime and reduce repeated failures as they struggle to manage their broad ultrasound fleet of probes.
Unisyn evaluates the ultrasound probe failures with its FirstCall probe-testing device technology which helps in diagnosing, repairing, and thoroughly testing each and every probe before shipment back to the customer.
FirstCall is claimed to provide objective measures of probe performance through testing the acoustic and electrical properties of ultrasound probes.
