Kodak will be doing the first placement of its Prosper 6000c press in the Europe, Africa and Middle East Region (EAMER) at UAE-based Dubai Media (DMI).
DMI will use the press for its Smart Printing Services initiative in the UAE with which it will deliver reader-customized newspapers and other advanced printing services.
With the new press, DMI's printing division, Masar Printing and Publishing Company, will be able to offer facilities like personalized newspapers.
DMI executive director of printing and distribution sector Faisal Bin Haider said: "In response to the vision of the wise leadership in Dubai to turn it into a smart city and provide the ultimate services to its residents, we have agreed to acquire a KODAK PROSPER 6000C Press.
"It offers the best solution of digital printing with an unmatched combination of outstanding quality, day-to-day productivity, and compelling economics."
These new presses come with an advanced Intelligent Print System (IPS) that ensures exceptional quality output through continuous monitoring, evaluation and adjustments of operations.
Color registration can be corrected instantly with the help of the improved IPS.
The presses writing system makes use of Kodak's new nanotechnology inks which offers a greater color gamut and can print on substrates like uncoated, coated and glossy papers.
The presses print at speeds of about 1,000ft, or 300m per minute on matted and uncoated papers with a duty cycle of 90 million A4 top quality pages a month.
Kodak EAMER managing director Philip Cullimore said: "DMI will be the first printing partner in EAMER to implement the PROSPER 6000 Press technology to address the needs for efficient news and publishing production.
"The exceptional quality requirements for this initiative can be achieved by a printing press that aspires to be the best solution in regards to quality and productivity to meet the demanding needs established by the Smart Printing Initiative."
