Orton Has Joined Hands with Beatbrand to Create a New Line of Wearable Technology Clothing

The American PC antivirus software maker Norton has joined hands with Beatbrand to create a new line of wearable technology clothing that can prevent virtual identity theft.

The collection incorporates silver-based Radio frequency identification (RFID)-protective material that blocks any electronic readers or scanning devices from accessing confidential information, including passport and credit card details, tucked into the wearer’s pockets.

The line’s Ready Active jeans, featuring two RFID-defeating pockets (one front and one back), is made from of 88 per cent of cotton, 10 per cent of polyester and 2 per cent of spandex materials.

Replete with one secure pocket, the Work-It blazer is made using 67 per cent of rayon, 28 per cent of nylon and 5 per cent of spandex fabrics.

Both the data-protecting, comfortable to wear and easy to manage clothing, which are scheduled to be available for purchase from February, 2015 onwards, are currently running under a crowd funding campaign.

Based in San Francisco, California, Betabrand is an online clothing community that designs, manufactures and crowdfund clothing with its fans.

Norton specializes in a range of security solutions and technologies for PCs and mobile devices, live tech support services and online backup. The brand is owned by the American technology company Symantec Corporation.

Radio frequency identification (RFID) chips use radio waves to transmit data through the air to data-reading terminals. (PB)
