Healthcare packaging company Nelipak has acquired Sonoco Products Company subsidiary Tegrant Alloyd Brands of Puerto Rico (TABPR).
The acquired business operates under the name of Nelipak Healthcare Packaging.
TABPR provides thermoformed rigid packaging solutions for the medical device and pharmaceutical customers in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
The company manufactures packaging products such as trays, clamshells, and blisters.
Nelipak said that TABPR will further develop its thermoformed packaging products and service capabilities for the healthcare market under the Nelipak brand.
The acquisition enables Nelipak to expand its presence in the North American healthcare market, including Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and other Caribbean regions.
Nelipak president and CEO Mike Kelly said: "We are thrilled to expand our global manufacturing footprint and gain greater access to the Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic healthcare markets with the acquisition of Tegrant Alloyd Brands of Puerto Rico.

Nelipak Healthcare Packaging designs, develops and produces thermoformed packaging products for medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
The company's products comprise of medical trays and blisters, surgical procedure trays, pharmaceutical handling trays and custom built sealing machines.
It has facilities in Cranston of Rhode Island and Phoenix of Arizona in the US, as well as Venray of Netherlands, Galway of Ireland, Juncos of Puerto Rico and San Jose of Costa Rica.
