CNPC Brought The Final Branch Line of Lanzhou-Zhengzhou-Changsha Oil Products Pipeline

China National Petroleum Corporation has brought the final branch line of its Lanzhou-Zhengzhou-Changsha oil products pipeline on stream, transporting 150,000 cubic meters of diesel (equivalent to around 126,000 mt for zero-pour gasoil) over November 1-5, the company said on its website Wednesday.

Construction of the branch line, which runs from central China's Yangluo in Wuhan city to Changsha city, was completed November 1, CNPC said.

The Lanzhou-Zhengzhou-Changsha, or Lan-Zheng-Chang, oil products pipeline, which runs from Lanzhou city in northwestern China's Gansu province, crosses Shaanxi, Henan, Hubei provinces, and ends at Changsha city in central China's Hunan province, is China's biggest oil products pipeline.

Construction work for the 2,737.8 kilometer pipeline -- comprising one trunk line totaling 2,080 km and 16 branch lines totaling 657.8 km -- started in late 2008. It is designed to transport 15 million mt/year of oil products, according to CNPC.

The Lan-Zheng-Chang oil products pipeline is part of plans to move oil and gas resources from the west to the east of the country and from the north to the south, to improve supply and demand problems.

Lanzhou city is a vital production and transit center for oil and gas resources in western China. CNPC's subsidiary PetroChina has the 10.5 million mt/year (210,863 b/d) Lanzhou refinery in the city.

PetroChina's Lanzhou refinery receives crude oil via pipelines from the company's oil fields in Xinjiang and from Kazakhstan.

The pipeline will enable CNPC to match supply with demand and cut down transport costs, the company said.
