Like playing music from your phone, but fed up of it sounding like a bee trapped in an envelope? HiFi-Skyn is an iPhone case with an audiophile-grade speaker built in.
It's capable of bringing out all the succulent highs and banging lows of high-resolution music that you won't hear through your phone's speaker or your headphones. HiFi-Skyn packs its own external DAC and amplifier, and so supports music up to 24-bit/192kHz resolution.
As well as dramatically improving the sound quality of your music – provided it's of the high-resolution kind, of course – it also acts as a standard case, promising to protect your phone. Though there are no specs backing this up, so we'll have to take their word for it. But considering the insides, we're guessing it's not quite as hardwearing as some rival cases.
It also charges your phone, and twice as fast as from a USB port.

The downside? It's certainly not cheap. A few were available for $174 (£114), but they have sold out, so you'll have to pay $224 (£147). That's a fair bit cheaper than the recommended retail price of $399 (£262), but is still quite expensive.
It also only works with the iPhone 5, which is quite a big oversight. Nevertheless, if you own that model of iPhone and have filled it with high-resolution music, it could be the investment you've been waiting for.
