Global adhesives provider HB Fuller has launched a new hot melt adhesive Advantra True for Europe, which is made from renewable raw materials.
HB Fuller claims that the adhesive is produced with a significant percentage of renewable raw materials and is poised to help producers deliver a more sustainable future for the packaging industry.
The company carried out extensive customer trials before officially launching the product in the market. According to HB Fuller, the trials have vindicated the advantages of the adhesive range across a wide range of carton types, including recycled carton grades.
Advantra True contains about 40% renewable resources that have been sourced from forests and is said to deliver bonding power, production line efficiencies, low odour, good thermal stability and positive ageing characteristics.
The product also separates well in the re-pulping process as the hot melt adhesive aids end-of-line recycling, and is compliant with European food safety regulations.
The adhesives need less maintenance and less downtime by avoiding char or gel formation that may clog filters and glue nozzles.
The company has been actively investing in adhesive innovation and is focusing on helping the packaging industry meet the market demands for more efficient and eco-friendly packaging.
HB Fuller marketing manager Elizabeth Staab said: "The development of Advantra True is an important step on a continuous journey as we seek ever more sustainable hot melt adhesives for the future. It demonstrates the value of our approach to innovation, as we connect people, products and processes to deliver a total package which will boost customers' performance and help them create more sustainable solutions."
