In October, Atos challenged IT students at 26 universities in Europe and India to develop smart mobile applications through a competition that awards the winning team experience during the London Olympics. The teams were asked to develop smart mobility applications in teams of two to five people. They received mentoring from the Atos Scientific Community.

The first competition was launched to coincide with the 2012 Olympic Games in London. It will run every two years, to tie in with the winter and summer Olympics.

Atos is the IT services partner for the Olympic Games. Since 2002, Atos has been the Olympics' main technology partner, responsible for coordinating the many suppliers.

The first prize will be made up of a diploma, Olympic experience at the 2012 London Olympic Games, and a tablet computer device. Second and third prizes will be the same, but without the Olympic experience.

Imperial College London, Warwick University and Nottingham University represented the UK.
