Austria-based plantmaker Siemens Metals Technologies has announced that it has received an order to supply Kazakhstan's Aktobe Rail and Section Works LLP with a rail and section mill.
The new rolling mill with an annual capacity of 430,000 mt will be constructed in Aktobe under the supervision of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC, the national railway company. The mill in question will be the first rail manufacturing plant in Kazakhstan.
The combined rail and section mill will be able to produce around 200,000 mt of rails per year in lengths of up to 120 meters, as well as 230,000 mt of angles, U and I-sections. The rails will meet the fast growing demand for railway equipment in Kazakhstan and other CIS states. The rolling mill is scheduled to start production in the second half of 2014.
