Germany-based packaging company K2 Verpackungen has installed its second Bobst Flexo folder gluer, Miniline FFG 618 Quatro, which has helped the company increase its production capacity for small-size corrugated board folding boxes.
The investment in the new folder gluer helped K2 produce small folding boxes from corrugated board while at the same time helped in reducing the load on the FFG 924 NT RS Flexo folder gluer which was installed in 2010.
The company had to install the equipment as it had exhausted capacity for all three shifts at the FFG 924 NT RS earlier than originally had been assumed.
With the installation, K2 has been able to increase its production capacity to 20,000 folding boxes per hour to the manufacturing of larger packaging units.
K2 managing director Carsten Zier said: "Both the reliability of the technology and the quality of the service were clear arguments in favour of continuing our cooperation with Bobst."
Zier further added that the equipment is capable of producing around 26,000 folding boxes per hour with rapid set up times. Depending on the job, it can be further decreased than even two minutes.
The company also plans to install a second monitor at the FFG 618 Quatro's counter unit to help operators make corrections whenever needed.
