Turkey's Billet Exports Exports Amounted to 178,515 Metric Tons Decreasing by 49.1 Percent

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in November 2012 Turkey's steel billet and bloom exports amounted to 178,515 metric tons decreasing by 49.1 percent compared to the previous month and down seven percent compared to the same month of 2011. In the previous month, Turkey's steel billet and bloom exports amounted to 350,797 metric tons, triple compared to the same month of 2011.

The revenue generated by Turkey's steel billet exports in November totaled $101.5 million, decreasing 50.6 percent compared to October and down 24.6 percent compared to the same month of 2011.

Turkey's top steel billet export destinations in November 2012 was Egypt with 73,623 mt, rising by 145 percent compared to November 2011, while Iran imported 73,223 mt of steel billet from Turkey in the month in question, up 43.2 percent year on year. Meanwhile, Peru followed Iran in November last year with 30,552 mt, with no steel billet imports from Turkey recorded in the same month of the previous year.

In the first 11 months of 2012, Turkey's steel billet exports increased by 31.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, rising to 2.8 million metric tons. Meanwhile, in the first 11 months this year, Turkey's steel billet exports to Saudi Arabia almost doubled on year-on-year basis, amounting to 1.27 million mt, while the country's steel billet exports to Iran more than tripled year on year, amounting to 675,000 mt.
