Global demand for biocides, a chemical substance which prevents microbe damage in plastics, will touch $7.3bn (€5.7bn) by 2019, according to a study.
Conducted by Ceresana, a Germany-based market research firm, the study reveals that the major market for biocides is North America, which accounts for 42% of global sales, followed by Western Europe and Asia Pacific, according to European Plastics News.
But the study sees a shift in growth of demand to Asia in the next eight years, as this region will increase its market share to more than 24%.
The Asian growth will be at the at the expense of North American and Europe.
