US-based print and packaging solutions provider Multi Packaging Solutions (MPS) has installed a new 3D print system.
With the investment in the latest 3D printing technology, the company will be able to create plastic prototypes.
The CubeX Duo 3D print system has been installed at its design studio in Scotland which will help the company offer its customers printed plastic models in various shapes, sizes, and colors.
The new prototyping will help customers visualize the complete product experience by translating product and packaging concepts into tangible models.
This new technology will completely eliminate the need for developing expensive test molds and reduce the traditional production time as virtually any three dimensional object can be printed directly from digital files.
Customers will also get flexibility to explore more design options and make alterations without compromising product launch schedules.
MPS design manager Julie Kennedy said: "Expanding our in-house design capabilities to include production of plastic prototypes is of tremendous value to our customers. We've already successfully printed rigid box lids, tube tops and plinths, as well as a number of premium 'one off' speculative designs for several new product launches.
"We also envision opportunities to print prototypes of bottles, jars, glassware, and promotional items to fully support customer product launches and marketing programs."
Apart from the new prototyping capabilities, MPS will also offer turnkey design resources from concept through production for premium packaging, including rigid, tubes, and folding cartons in different materials, finishes and decorative technologies.
Currently the company employs around 9000 people across its 60 manufacturing locations in North America, Asia and Europe.
