Japan's domestic market prices of locally available ferrous scrap averaged JPY 24,479 per tonne delivered at steelworks for No2 HMS in the main trading areas of Kanto, Chubu and Kansai in the third week of December, up JPY 386 from a week ago, according to a weekly price survey by the Japan Ferrous Raw Materials Association.
In the third week of December, the surveyed prices of No2 HMS ex steelworks in cash transactions were JPY 25,917 per tonne in Kanto, up JPY 334 from a week ago; JPY 22,020 per tonne in Chubu, up JPY 700 and JPY 25,500 per tonne in Kansai, up JPY 125. The surveyed price indicates the average of benchmark prices.
