3M Introduces New Acrylic-Based Adhesive Solution for Medical Device Industry

US-based firm 3M has introduced new long-term wear and acrylic-based adhesive solution for the medical device industry.

The company has launched 4076 extended wear medical tape, which is an advanced adhesive solution for medical device manufacturers and engineers.

3M’s 4076 extended wear medical tape has secured approval for use on intact skin. It is part of the firm’s adhesives product line, which can be used by the medical device manufacturing, design and supply industries.

The acrylic-based adhesive solution has been developed to increase patient comfort and offer better bond in challenging applications.

The tape is a non-sensitizing and conformable adhesive, which enables engineers and manufacturers to concentrate on their device’s design and application.

3M critical and chronic care solutions division agile commercialization director Dr Diana Eitzman said: “Sticking to skin presents a major challenge to the medical device industry.

“By equipping our customers with the latest adhesive technology, we’re giving them the power to solve their toughest design challenges and positively impact patients’ lives globally.”

In September 2016, 3M agreed tod ivest its temporary protective films business to Pregis, a manufacturer of protective packaging materials and systems, for undisclosed amount.

The business considered for sale is engaged in providing of adhesive-backed temporary protective films used in a broad range of industries including automotive, appliance, metalworking, building and construction.
