Austria imported a total of 2.4m m3 of softwood sawlogs in the first half of this year, equating to an increase of 13.6% against the same period of last year. Softwood sawlog imports from the Czech Republic rose by roughly 23% to 1.04m m3 whereas imports from Germany fell by almost 17% to 513,717 m3 in the reporting period. At the same time, the statistics reveal disproportionate growth of 56% in sawlog imports from Slovakia to 186,281 m3. Moreover, softwood-log imports from France rose from zero to 72,780 m3.
