Award for museum project Neue Galerie Kassel
The prizes of the German Lichtdesign-Preis 2013 were awarded. OSRAM received together with the Licht Kunst Licht AG an award for the project Neue Galerie Kassel.
The Neue Galerie Kassel has been closed in 2006 for five years for extensive renovation and refurbishment work. In November 2011, the museum celebrated the reopening and returned to her family home in the beautiful view above the Karlsaue. The art inventory presents itself in a completely modernized building, on a larger space and with a new LED lighting installation.
The design of the renovation comes from the architects of Staab Architekten GmbH in Berlin. A high proportion of daylight allows special qualities of perception in the gallery after the new opening. A professional lighting control right now manages the amount of artificial light permanently on the natural light offering. The daylight entry through the windows and facade elements were subtly influenced by the selection of different transmissive glasses, so as to match the quantity of sunlight exposure in the interior accordingly to the current exposure and to create a consistent light level. The architecturally integrated lighting elements support the minimalist design of the exhibition rooms.
