The arrival of cotton is yet to pick up in Indian markets and the new cotton arrival up to November-end this year is about 15-16 percent less than the arrival registered during the same period last year,according to a Gujarat-based cotton trader.
"Of the estimated 34 million bales of cotton arrival during the current season,only 5.15 million bales of cotton has arrived so far in the market,about 15-16 percent lower than the arrival last season,"well-known cotton trader Mr.Arun Dalal told fibre2fashion.
"While 1.3 million bales of cotton have arrived in North Indian markets,another 1.15 million bales have arrived in Gujarat by November-end,"he informs.
"Crop arrival is also good in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra where 1.05 million and 0.85 million bales of cotton arrivals,respectively,have been registered,"he adds.
Cotton Advisory Bureau has estimated India's domestic cotton consumption by textile mills and small units at 26 million bales during the current cotton year which began on October 1,2012.
