Cold Smoked Salmon Products Are Recalled Due to Listeria Monocytogenes Contamination

Delifish is voluntarily recalling cold smoked salmon products due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The products subject to recall, from lots 249 through 291, were manufactured between 5 September 2012 and 17 October 2012 and might have been distributed in California, Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico.

These recalled products were sold as Black Bear of the Black Forest Smoked Salmon, Food Service Cold Smoked Salmon Trim, Einstein Darn Good, Food Service Whole Smoked Side, Silver Source Smoked Salmon Foodservice, Royal Fjord Smoked Toppers, Royal Fjord Sliced Smoked Salmon Loin and HEB Smoked Salmon Package.

The recall was initiated as a precautionary measure following the detection of Listeria in a few of the recalled batches.

No other products supplied by Delifish or Marine Harvest USA have been affected by this recall.

Consumption of products containing Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
