US Domestic Raw Steel Production Rise Year-on-Year

According to a release from the American Iron and Steel Institute, in the week ending November 9, 2013, US domestic raw steel production was 1,829,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 76.3 percent, compared to 1,744,000 net tons in the week ending November 9, 2012--representing a 4.9 percent increase--and capability utilization of 70.1 percent. Production for the week ending November 9, 2013 is down 0.2 percent from the previous week ending November 2, 2013 when production was 1,833,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 76.5 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through November 9, 2013 was 83,187,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 77.1 percent. That is a 2.0 percent decrease from the 84,879,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 75.5 percent.
