The Seasonally-Adjusted Index for Italian Industrial Production Decreased by 0.8 Percent

In March this year, the seasonally-adjusted index for Italian industrial production decreased by 0.8 percent compared with the previous month. In the first quarter, the seasonally-adjusted index decreased 0.4 percent compared with the fourth quarter last year.

Meanwhile, in March of the current year Italy's calendar-adjusted industrial production index decreased by 5.2 percent compared with March 2012 (calendar working days in March this year being 21 versus 22 in March 2012). In the first quarter, Italy's calendar-adjusted industrial production index decreased by 4.2 percent year on year.

As regards metal and metal products manufacturing (excluding machines) in Italy, the seasonally-adjusted index for production fell 0.8 percent in March compared to February and was down two percent in Q1 this year compared to Q4 2012. The calendar-adjusted index for industrial production in metal and metal products manufacturing in Italy decreased by 8.9 percent in March this year and was down 7.9 percent in Q1, both year on year.
