LSI’s latest communications processor for 4G LTE basestations has up to 16 ARM Cortex-A15 cores.
Designed the Axxia 5500, the 28nm chip’s networking accelerator supports 50Gbit/s packet processing, 20Gbit/s security processing and 160Gbit/s of Ethernet switching via 16 10Gb Ethernet interfaces.
The 16 ARM Cortex-A15 cores are connected using ARM’s CoreLink CCN-504 low-latency interconnect on the 28nm chip.
