Lexus, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese carmaker Toyota, is planning to unveil the 2014 IS sport sedan at the upcoming North American International Auto Show to be held during 14 to 27 January in Detroit, US.
The new F SPORT models will be offered across the IS model range including IS 250, IS 350, and a hybrid version IS 300h.
According to the carmaker, IS 250 will be powered by a 2.5L V6 engine which is expected to generate an output of 200hp, while the IS 350 will be powered by a 3.5L V6 engine that produces an output of 300hp (224kW).
The hybrid variant, IS 300h, is expected to be powered by a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that generates an output of 240hp and will be mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that assists the hybrid to sprint from 0-100km/h in 6.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 225km/h.
The vehicle's extended wheelbase along with a thinner front seat design is expected to offer enhanced accessibility, while the new, 60:40 split/folding rear seats are aimed at offering expansive luggage capacity.
Developed based on the carmaker's LF-CC Concept model, the 2014 Lexus IS will be launched in Europe, Japan and other international markets.
