Home Gardening Was More Popular Among The People of America Than Golf, Tennis Ect

There was a time in the early 70's when people took keen interest in home gardening. According to a Gallup poll in 1974, home gardening was more popular among the people of America than golf, tennis, and downhill skiing. In fact, many non-gardeners switched to gardening at that time if they were convinced they could save around 200-300 annually. However, since the gardening heyday, interest in home gardening has not only diminished, but most people are not even aware of the numerous benefits of home gardening. The opportunity to save money is the number one reason, considering the adverse situation of the current economic climate. According to a recent Gallup poll, most people who garden these days do it primarily for the joy of the effort, peace of mind, and to encourage their children to take up the interest. Considering the fact that the global recession has affected the standard of living for a average household and the economy is still struggling with the unpleasant upshots of recession, home gardening is one of a great activities to consider. Consumable product such as potatoes, spinach, tomatoes, carrots, pumpkin, and cucumber can be grown with ease, and it requires minimal land. While many older people partake in vegetable gardening to keep themselves busy and stay healthy, it can also be used as a tool for saving income. Rather than buying consumables from the market, it is less costly to grow them at home and sell excess. Experts believe that there are many benefits to home gardening and people need to be educated so that they can enjoy them. Source: MENAFN
