Firstwood intends to enter into production of window and door scantlings made from thermally-modified timber. The company has therefore invested roughly m in a pilot plant at its new site in Rathenow and commissioned it in November 2011. The necessary machinery was delivered at the end of September. During the course of the plant expansion the planing line for processing finished products such as decking and façade beams, which was previously installed in Premnitz, was also transferred to Rathenow.
