Plastic compounds and resins supplier in the US, A Schulman has opened its new plastics masterbatch manufacturing facility in Vadodara, India, which will manufacture products for flexible packaging market.
The annual capacity of the plant is projected to be about 10,000t initially.
A Schulman general manager for India Mannar Mannan Shanmugam, commenting on the opening, said, "By opening this new plant in Vadodara, we are strengthening our position to serve our growing customer base in this attractive market."
The company was serving its masterbatch customers in the country by exporting products from its Indonesian and Malaysian facilities, before opening the new facility.
The facilities will currently focus on serving the growing demand for masterbatch products for flexible packaging applications in their respective markets.
Said to be the company's first manufacturing facility in India and fifth in the Asia-Pacific region, the Vadodara plant will also manufacture masterbatch products for the growing appliance and consumer products markets.
