SCHOTT will be unveiling a real highlight at BAU 2013 in the form of a glass wall that is composed of profile tubing. The international technology group will be presenting CONTURAX Pro, innovative non-round glass tubing that offers architects, designers and artists completely new design possibilities in the area of interior design.
CONTURAX Pro is distinctly known for its wide variety of shapes: square, rectangular or even combinations of round and square are possible. Partitions, door and window frames, lighting solutions and shade systems can all be designed with it. The installation that will be on display at BAU 2013 is 3 meters in length, and 3.2 meters high. It will be on exhibit in hall C2, booth 139.
Nevertheless, CONTURAX® Pro is quite impressive not only in terms of its appearance, but also its intrinsic values. For instance, this glass features a scratch-resistant surface and high geometrical accuracy that allow for it to be processed very precisely. It also stands up well to sudden changes in temperature.
“Thanks to its wide range of different shapes, CONTURAX Pro gives any room a unique, new look and allows for many design and architecture projects to be realized that proved to be quite difficult in the past,” explains Klaas Roelfsema, Regional Sales Manager SCHOTT Tubing N.W. Europe.
The glasswall was shown at the special exhibiton "Glasstecnology Live" as a part of the Glasstec exhibition. It is made out of CONTURAX Pro tubes and was lighted with blue light. The 12m long and 3m high wall is a project together with the enterprise Octatube. Photo: SCHOTT
SCHOTT’S expertise and years of experience in special glass made it possible to successfully develop a new type of non-round glass tube: This profiled tubing offers high transparency and thermal shock resistance as well as hard, smooth surfaces for vast scratch protection. Furthermore, it enables precise processing through its geometrical accuracy. Due to their variety of shapes, CONTURAX® Pro glass tubes are ideally suited for an extensive range of applications in the field of architecture, art and design. The 12 meter glass wall – shown at the glasstec 2012 trade show in Duesseldorf, Germany – was realized together with the company Octatube (NL).
