Menasha Packaging Invests in New Equipment to Increase Production Efficiency

Graphic consumer packaging and corrugated packaging specialist Menasha Packaging has installed a new large-format flatbed die cutter and litho labeler/laminator in a bid to increase production efficiency and capacity in Canada.

The investment in new equipment will allow the company to fulfill packaging and merchandising orders.

The Brausse-Eterna PE2100S Automatic Flatbed die cutter comes with a Centreline make-ready system and a side chase loader allowing for faster set-ups for shorter runs.

This 2,100mm by 1,300mm die cutter with 500 tons of cutting pressure will be able to run at a speed maximum speed of of 4,500 cycles per hour.

Additionally, the company installed Automatan 8166 Litho Label Laminator with a capacity to handle the largest litho label at 4,500 sheets per hour and registration of plus or minus one millimeter.

The large format, high-speed labeler/laminator with a sheet-to-sheet single-face module is claimed to provide full and spot labeling capabilities.

Menasha Packaging Canada regional general manager Brian Pascavis said: "This capital investment enables Menasha to further align our capabilities throughout North America, which allows us to maintain our position as an industry leader.

"The improved efficiencies and extra capacity also helps us continue meeting the expectations of our large consumer packaged goods customers now and into the future, while accommodating additional growth from current and new customers."

This year, Menasha acquired Portable Packaging Systems and PearceWellwood in Canada.

Portable Packaging Systems, which designs promotional packaging and displays for retailers and consumer packaged goods companies, operates as part of Menasha Packaging Canada.

It employs over 100 full-time employees and an average of 300 temporary workers per day at its Mississauga facility and at three customer-dedicated distribution centers in the greater Toronto area and one in Montreal.
