Posco E&C to Build a New $350m Cement Plant in East Timor

Posco E&C Australia Pty Ltd, a division of Posco Engineering & Construction, is to build a new $350m cement plant in East Timor.

The project was awarded by BGC, an Australian group that specialises in residential and commercial building, building and construction products manufacture and civil engineering construction and maintenance, among other things.

Posco E&C Australia is expanding its business in South East Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

The new cement plant will be built in Baucau, 120km east of East Timor's capital, Dili, and construction is expected to last around 34 months.

The plant will be owned by BGC but Posco E&C Australia will be responsible for the whole construction process, including engineering and procurement. This large-scale project comes as part of government plans to encourage infrastructure development in the country.
