Vigilant Personal Protection Systems has introduced a new brand packaging platform which intends to eliminate harmful plastics to emphasize environmental sustainability.
Based on Walmart's sustainability practice, Vigilan will implement vendor sustainability initiatives to reduce packaging materials by minimizing packaging and optimizing design.
The company will also maximize recyclable packaging components, in a bid to support consumer recycling initiatives.
The new packaging will include minimal size footprint, zero plastics, recyclable cardboard packaging, and reusable inner bubble protection inserts.
By fall this year, the firm will implement the new packaging on all alarm models. Vigilant Pepper Spray packaging is expected to be available in early 2018.
Vigilant produces personal protection alarms for customers in the US.
As per the research report, the amount of plastic produces in the first ten years of this century will approach the total produced in the entire last century.
According to the company, more than 300 million tons of plastic will be produced across the globe.
Vigilant Personal Protection Systems CTO David Happe said: "Within 2017, 100% of Vigilant alarms will come packaged in recyclable and reusable material.
“By 2018, we will also eliminate all plastics from Vigilant Pepper Spray also, completing the transition to a 100% environmentally sustainable, responsible product sales organization."
