The Lite-On Group Predicts 2013 Revenues of Its LED Business Will Exceed NT$20 Billion

The Lite-On Group predicts 2013 revenues of its LED business will exceed NT$20 billion (US$671 million) while revenues for automobile electronics will reach NT$10 billion, according to group chairman Raymond Soong.

Lite-On Technology noted that 2013 revenues are forecast to grow steadily while sales from the LED, camera module, and cloud application business units are likely to show an average increase of 25% on year.

Soong stated that shipments of LED lighting components in 2012 showed a strong increase due to rising demand, and revenues grew significantly. However, 2012 revenues from LED only accounted for 7% of total revenues from optic products within the group, said Soong. In 2013, revenues of the LED business unit are likely to increase close to 30% on year, said the firm, and growth is due to rising global demand of indoor LED lighting.

Lite-On stated that market conditions are still unclear in 2013 hence group revenues are likely to show an on-year increase within 10%.

Lite-On Technology recently became a major camera module supplier for non-Apple brands with market share reaching 30%. The firm noted that shipments of 12-13-megapixel camera modules began in the first quarter of 2013 while shipments of 13-megapixel camera modules with anti-shake features began in June.

The Lite-On Group's cloud server and telecom application business unit added new customers from China and the US in 2013. The group predicts revenues from the business unit will show an on-year increase of 15% in 2013.

The Lite-On Group saw 2012 automobile electronics revenues reach NT$8-9 billion and expects the figure to grow to NT$10 billion in 2013.
