Transport Technologies and Kazakhstan Railways will jointly build the first rail mill in Kazakhstan. It's learned that the new plant is designed to have the annual capacity of 430,000 tons of rail and section and it is scheduled to be commissioned in the second half of 2014. The mill will be able to produce 200,000 tons of up to 120 meter long high-strength rails plus 230,000 tons of angles, channels and I-beams annually. Meanwhile, Transport Technologies will own 70% and Kazakhstan Railways (KTZh) will hold 30% in the project. The plant will buy the semis products from several steelworks including ArcelorMittal Temirtau in central Kazakhstan.
