In July this year, Turkey's crude steel output increased by one percent year on year but was down by 4.7 percent compared to June to 2.82 million metric tons, according to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). In the given month, Turkey's crude steel output by electric arc furnaces decreased by 8.3 percent month on month and by 11.7 percent year on year to 1.9 million metric tons, while production by blast furnaces increased by 3.3 percent month on month and by 44 percent year on year to 918,000 metric tons.
Meanwhile, in the first seven months of this year Turkey's crude steel output recorded a decrease of 0.9 percent year on year, totaling 19.93 million mt. In the given period, Turkey's crude steel production by electric arc furnaces declined by two percent to 14.05 million metric tons and production by blast furnaces increased by 1.8 percent to 5.88 million metric tons, both on year-on-year basis.
In the January-July period this year, Turkey's billet output decreased by 4.5 percent to 14.54 million mt, while the country's slab output increased by 10.2 percent to 5.38 million mt, both on year-on-year basis.
