Northwestern China's Shanxi province, the country's third largest coal production base, produced 50.42 million mt of raw coal in Augest, up 11.79% from a year ago, according to the Shanxi Administration of Coal Mine Safety.
The August output represented a 20.39% drop from readjusted July output, the administration said, without giving details. The original output for July published in early August by the administration was at 45.33 million mt.
Over January-August, Shaanxi produced 325.06 million mt of coal, up 3.29% year on year, the administration said.
Key state-owned mines -- owned by the central and provincial governments -- produced 163.67 million mt of coal in the first eight months, up 0.57% year on year, including 77.06 million mt from Shenhua Shendong Coal Group, up 2.99% from the previous year.
Coal output from local mines -- owned by the prefecture and lower-level governments and private firms -- stood at 161.40 million mt during the same period, rising 6.21% from the year before.
In August, Shaanxi sold 48.90 million mt of coal, up 13.56% year on year and up 10.36% from July. Total sales over January-August rose 4.88% from the year before to 314.02 million mt, the administration said.
