Official images of the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG have leaked online just days out from its unveiling at next week’s 2013 New York auto show.
The shots reveal the complete interior and exterior styling of the premium German manufacturer’s all-new compact sports sedan, which is set to form a menacing double-act with its mechanically similar A45 AMG hot-hatch sibling during 2014.
Like the A45, the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG will be powered by a 265kW/450Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, and with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sending drive to all four wheels, the new model promises to sprint from 0-100km/h in less than five seconds.
Both models will be styled almost identically inside and out, with the CLA45 AMG uniquely sporting longitudinal bonnet ribs, as well as a distinctive ‘four-door coupe’-style sedan body.
Like the Mercedes A45 AMG, which lands in Australian showrooms in September, the CLA45 AMG is expected to come equipped as standard with 19-inch black alloy wheels, panoramic glass sunroof, blind-spot and lane-departure warning systems, heated electric leather-trimmed seats, COMAND online interface and a Harmon/Kardon audio system.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG is expected to wear a circa-$80,000 price tag when it arrives on our shores early in 2014, commanding roughly a $5000 premium over the A45 AMG hatch.
Expect more details of the CLA45 AMG to be revealed in the lead up to its New York debut on March 27.
