Windsor Foods Plans to Close Its Italian Food Manufacturing Facility in The US

Windsor Foods, a frozen foods producer based in US, is set to close its Italian food manufacturing facility in Bloomsburg, central Pennsylvania between February and March 2014.

The closure is expected to affect around 160 people.

Windsor Foods spokeswoman Lynn Hall was quoted by Press-Enterprise of Bloomsburg as saying that the company is consolidating its Italian food facility and a pasta production line in Toluca, Illinois.

The company had experienced a substantial loss in revenues due to flooding at the plant in 2004, 2006, and 2011 years which led to suspension of production, Hall added.

Windsor plans to expand its operations and focus more on pasta production at its other sites, to compensate the duties affected by the Bloomsburg plant closure, while moving some of the closure-affected staff to its other plants across the country.

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Windsor Foods is a privately-held company that caters to foodservice, warehouse club, industrial and private-label retail customers.

The company offers Italian cuisine, Pan-Asian appetizers, Southwestern comfort foods, Mexican mainstays under Bernardi, Golden Tiger, The Original Chili Bowl, José Olé, Posada, Whitey's Chili, Cripple Creek and Fred's for Starters brands.
